Regular or one-off companionship visits to allow you time away from your loved one
Need someone to keep a watchful eye on your loved one while you take care of errands or simply take a break? Our sitting service offers companionship and assistance whenever you need it.
Sitting Service Benefits
The aim of the sitting service is to give unpaid carers the opportunity to take a break from caring and have time out for themselves. Unpaid carers work hard, and it should not be underestimated just how stressful and tiring looking after a loved one 24/7 can be.
At Aster Care, we aim to provide an affordable option to ensure the carer gets this break, sometimes referred to as ‘respite care’. This respite care will give companionship to a loved one in the unpaid carer’s place temporarily, i.e., for a couple of hours as a one-off visit, or on a regular or ad hoc basis. We can provide the sitting service for the elderly, disabled, or to adults who are frightened or unsafe to be left alone.
Here are some examples of where it might be used:-
To attend a medical/social appointment
To go to the cinema or theatre
To go out for the day or attend a special event
To attend educational classes
To go on holiday

What Happens Next?
We try to keep the process simple. However, we want our Sitting Service clients to receive the same high level of service as our regular clients, and so we will undertake the following:
We will contact you by telephone to arrange to come and meet your loved one in their home setting to undertake a brief needs assessment. This is shorter than our usual assessments and a key part of us finding out what is is important to you. This enables us to draw up a succinct, personalised care plan so a staff member can be matched to deliver the care to your wishes.
We will carry out a risk assessment of the home for legal purposes. This is a brief walkabout of the property where we find out which areas you are happy for the staff member to access and work in. We will also undertake a visual check of any electrical items you may wish for us to use.
This process will take only 1-1.5 hours and is free of charge.
We offer a range of live-in care options, from temporary stays to permanent live-in care.
